Welcome to the recycle ranch!

The Recycle Ranch is about many things, the first being  a home where family and friends  are always welcome to spend some time, enjoy a  fantastic meal  and the many diversions the RR has to offer in the midst of one of God's finest creations; the Rocky Mountains.  The RR is about balancing work and play. Volley Ball, Horseshoes, Bocce and  swimming  are just some of the fun we enjoy here in our down time.

On the serious side, it's  about self reliance,  conservation and reclamation. It is about learning how to fix things instead of throwing them away, turning junk headed for the landfill into a useful product with creativity and sweat.  It's about relearning,  honing  and passing on homesteading and rural living  skills our predecessors used every single day. It's about being prepared to handle anything nature  can throw your way.

Instead of feeling "helpless" it's time to become more self sufficient whether it's learning how to weld, change your oil, start a garden, or build a shed.  Self sufficiency and back to basics are more important now than at any time in history. Recent events like Katrina and the 2009 ice storm have shown us we must not only be prepared, but be able to rely on our own skills and resourcefulness when confronted with events beyond our control.

hands on homesteading

Perhaps one of the best thing about living in the country is the freedom  to follow your dreams. Whether it's  gardening, canning,  raising  animals, turning junk into treasure or chainsaw carving,  the blessings  of country life must be experienced to be fully appreciated.

If you want to learn but don't know where to start, get a subscription to COUNTRYSIDE , surf the web,  ask those that know - whatever it takes.  Now is the best time to get back to basics and learn skills to become self reliant.

Take a minute and look at a few of our fun and useful projects as well, and feel free to send me suggestions or comments if you wish.
